The Kaduna state Pilgrims Welfare Agency (KSPWA) says it has refunded over 3,000 pilgrims who participated in the 2023 hajj.
Yunusa Abdullahi, spokesperson for KSPWA, said in a statement on Tuesday that each pilgrim received N61,080, which was paid directly into their accounts.
Abdullahi asked those who have not received their refunds to contact their local government registration officers for assistance.
He noted that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) issued the refunds due to power outages in Mina, which disrupted cooling systems and caused discomfort for pilgrims.

Abdullahi thanked those still awaiting payment for their patience, assuring them that the agency is working to complete the process.
He attributed the delay to incomplete account details from some pilgrims and assured that another round of payments would begin this week.
“These details are critical for quick refunds to the remaining pilgrims,” he said.

Salihu Abubakar, the chairman of KSPWA, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring all refunds are processed efficiently.
“We understand the significance of these refunds and are dedicated to completing the disbursement process efficiently,” Abubakar said.
He added that the agency is focused on preparation for the 2025 hajj while handling the refunds.
