Kaduna: Uba Sani assures defectors of fairness as ‘over 12,000 PDP members’ join APC

Uba Sani, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna, says he will ensure fairness for all members of the party in the state, irrespective of when they joined.

He said this on Sunday while receiving members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the APC in Giwa LGA of Kaduna state.

Over 12,000 PDP members, including a former commissioner as well as women and youth leaders, are said to have defected to the APC on Sunday.

Speaking at the event held in Giwa LGA to receive the defectors, Sani said the new APC members would be accorded the same privileges as older party members.

“In APC, there is no discrimination. Those that joined today are equal in status as those who joined when the party was formed. We are one and a united family,” he said.

Sani also urged the APC supporters to remain focused on ensuring victory for the party in the 2023 elections.

“You should vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the presidential election, vote for Muhammad Sani Abdullahi as senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district, and vote for Jibrin Zubairu as member representing Giwa/Birnin Gwari federal constituency,” he said.

“You should vote for me during the governorship election and elect Umar Auwal Bijimi and Adamu Mohammed Shika to represent Birnin Gwari west and east, respectively, at the state house of assembly.

“The APC candidates that will represent you at the state and national assembly are very vocal and eloquent people, who will not be bench warmers at the legislative chambers.”

In his remarks, Emmanuel Jekada, Kaduna APC chairman, commended the defectors for their decision, adding that it is evidence that the APC has done well for Kaduna.

On his part, Lawal Yakawada, former secretary to the Kaduna state government, urged the people to promote issue-based campaigns, and avoid thuggery and foul language.
