Kamaru Usman-inspired first ever mixed martial art contest to hold in Lagos

54, an African-oriented Nigerian Mixed Martial Art (MMA) professional promotion company, is set to hold its “first-ever” contest night in Lagos.

The event is powered by Kamaru Usman, UFC welterweight champion also known as the Nigerian Nightmare.

In a statement, 54 said the face-off fight night is a series of elite fight events organised by the company.

It added that the event is billed to hold around 8 pm at the Lagos Continental Hotel on January 7, 2022.

According to the statement, the contest will feature five MMA fighters from Nigeria and other parts of Africa as well as celebrities and special guests.

The company said the initiative is aimed at leaving “an impeccable MMA imprint in Nigeria and by extension, the African continent.”

“54 announces the first-ever face-off fight night in Africa’s most-populated city, Lagos as it brings mixed martial art fighters to slug it out in a bid to leave an impeccable MMA imprint in Nigeria and by extension, the African continent,” it read.

“Five (5) professional MMA fights featuring AKO Season 1 and international fighters will compete in 1 night live at the Lagos Continental Hotel on January 7, 2022.”

The company added that contenders of the inaugural fight include: “Big Shark VS Machine Gun, Hurricane VS Resident Ninja, Marine Boxer VS Black Panther, and Nicotine VS Ring Beast.”
