The National Assembly Service Commission has appointed Kamoru Ogunlana as clerk of the national assembly.
Ahmed Amshi, chair of the commission, said Ogunlana will oversee the affairs of the clerk of the national assembly, as Magaji Tambuwal, the outgoing clerk, proceeds on pre-retirement leave.
“As you proceed on your pre-retirement leave, Mr Kamoru Ogunlana will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly, while working closely with you to ensure smooth transition until he takes over from you as the Substantive Clerk to the National Assembly on 02/02/2025,” the letter reads.
Until his appointment, Ogunlana was the deputy clerk of the national assembly.

Tambuwal, who was named as clerk in November 2022, succeeded Olatunde Ojo.
His appointment stirred controversy at the time, as he was not the most senior official in the national assembly management.
Chinedu Akubueze, clerk of the senate, was said to be the most senior official when Tambuwal was appointed.
