The Kaduna branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) is set to honour Uba Sani, governor of the state, with an award of excellence.

In a letter signed by Madaki Sheyin, the chairman of NMA in Kaduna, and sent to the governor, Sani will also be conferred with the grand patron of the association.

The letter said the recognition is a testament to Sani’s dedicated efforts in advancing the healthcare sector amid the nation’s economic challenges and the state’s debt burden.

The award will be formally presented at the upcoming annual general meeting and scientific conference of the association in Kaduna on August 10.

The association praised the governor for his unwavering support and significant contributions to the welfare and progress of medical professionals in the state.

The NMA highlighted some of the impactful initiatives employed by the governor since taking office in May 2023, including allocating 15 percent of the annual budget to the health sector.

Distribution of medical equipment and supplies to 290 primary health care centres across the state and the launch of five mobile medical trucks with state-of-the-art facilities to serve rural areas, among others.

It added that Kaduna State Health Supplies Management Agency (KADHSMA) has successfully onboarded and distributed malaria, maternal, newborn, and child health medicines to all primary healthcare facilities, including hard-to-reach centres.
