Abdullahi Abbas, chairman, caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, has asked party loyalists to “attack and punish” anyone who attempts to rig elections in the state.
Abbas has a record of reportedly inciting party supporters during elections.
He is said to have handed down a warning at a meeting on the party’s membership revalidation exercise in January, calling for strict sanctions to be taken against anyone who is against the APC.
Last year, he hinted that his party is prepared to match “violence for violence” in the 2023 general election.

Speaking on Friday in Kano during the swearing-in of the 44 local government chairmen in the state, Abbas asked party supporters to punish anyone trying to steal votes in the forthcoming elections, adding that loyal members would be given the freedom to act as they pleased.
“I order you to punish anybody seen before ballots boxes trying to rig the election. Nothing will happen,” he was quoted to have said.
He also urged supporters present at the swearing-in ceremony in Kano, to prepare to defend the party during the 2023 general election.
