The Kano government has eased the 24-hour curfew in the state for five hours to enable Muslim worshippers to observe the Juma’at prayer.

Isa Dederi, attorney-general and commissioner for justice in the state, announced the development on Friday.

Dederi said the curfew has only been relaxed from noon to 5 pm, adding that it will resume fully after the prayers.

On Thursday, Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, imposed a 24-hour curfew after the nationwide #EndbadGovernance protest turned violent.

On Thursday, the 10-day protest against bad governance and economic hardship kicked off in many states nationwide.

During the protest, hoodlums attacked and looted public and private properties in Kano, including the newly built Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) Industrial Park, which was also set ablaze.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre was scheduled for commissioning next week.
