Some residents of Unguwar Yamadawa at Dorayi Baba quarters in Kano metropolis, on Wednesday night, nabbed two gunmen after a failed kidnap attempt in the area.
According to NAN, an eyewitness said the suspects infiltrated the densely populated area and attempted to kidnap a resident as he arrived at his home.
The witness said the targeted victim managed to escape, prompting the attackers to fire several gunshots in the air to scare people in the neighbourhood.
The residents were said to have swooped on the suspected kidnappers who were trying to escape on a hijacked tricycle.

The suspects were subsequently handed over to the state police command.
Haruna Abdullahi, the command spokesperson who confirmed the development, said an investigation into the incident has commenced.
The incident comes amid concerns over an increase in abductions across the country.

Gunmen have invaded schools and homes in recent times, leading to the abduction of students and residents.
Some of the kidnapped victims have also been killed, while in some cases, the abductors have demanded huge sums as ransom.
Meanwhile, the federal government has expressed its commitment towards improving security across the country.
