Kano shuts technical college over ‘disturbing security report’

The Kano state government has directed the immediate closure of Bagauda Technical College over a “disturbing security report”.

This was announced in a statement by Aliyu Yusuf, the state ministry of education spokesman, on Monday.

Yusuf said the directive was necessary to protect the lives of everyone in the college.

He asked parents to immediately evacuate their children from the school.

Some schools in the country have been attacked by gunmen who abduct students for ransom.

Last week, gunmen abducted some students from Greenfield University in Kaduna state.

Following the state government’s refusal to pay ransom to the bandits, five of the students were killed.

Weeks before, bandits invaded UBE primary school at Rama in Birnin-Gwari LGA, days after a similar attack.
