Umar Haruna, the commissioner for education in Kano state, says two secondary school principals have been suspended for alleged truancy and negligence of duty.
In a statement on Monday, Balarabe Kiru, director of public enlightenment in the ministry of education, said the principals were absent when a monitoring team visited their schools.
Kiru said the schools whose principals were suspended are French Bilingual College and Chinese Bilingual College, Kwankwaso in Madobi LGA of the state.
He said the monitoring team, led by Kubra Imam, permanent secretary of the ministry, visited the schools to observe the commencement of the 2023/2024 first-term session.

He said the team found out that students in both schools were not served dinner on Sunday while breakfast for the following day was not available during the visit.
Kiru said the commissioner of education has approved the posting of Umar Sabo to French Bilingual College, as the acting principal while Isyaku Abdullahi was posted to Chinese Bilingual College, Kwankwaso.
“The commissioner expressed dismay over unconcerned attitudes shown by the two principals and therefore directed them to hand over the school affairs to the new sit-in principals and report to the ministry pending an investigation,” NAN quoted Kiru as saying.
