The Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) in Kano, says it impounded 408 vehicles in the state in 2023, over various traffic violations.
Hassan Garba, Kano’s Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), said this in an interview with NAN on Thursday.
Garba said the agency generated N33.2 million in the aforementioned year, adding that drivers were penalised for using expired licences and documents.
“Some of the offences by the motorists are failure to update vehicle particulars, operating with expired driver’s licence and failure to meet roadworthy requirements,” he said.

“We generated N33.2 million and certified drivers from various driving schools in the state during the period under review.
“Our plan for 2024 is to intensify safety campaigns for company drivers, institutes, and motor parks, among others.”
The director appealed to motorists to always abide by the rules and regulations to ensure safety.
