The Katsina emirate council has announced the dismissal of Yusuf Lawal, district head of Kankara, over alleged complicity in banditry.
Earlier in May, the council had announced the suspension of the district head for allegedly working with bandits in the state.
However, according to NAN, Bello Mamman, the council’s secretary, said Lawal was found guilty and has been dismissed “with immediate effect”.
Speaking through Ibrahim Bindawa, the emirate’s information officer, Mamman said after investigation into the allegation levelled against Lawal, he was found to be complicit in aiding the activities of bandits.

“The investigation found him guilty of all the charges levelled against him,” he said.
“The report was forwarded to the state government and it was directed that he should be dismissed as district head.”
Lawal’s dismissal comes months after after gunmen attacked Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, from where over 300 schoolboys were abducted.

The boys were later released after spending some days in captivity.
