‘I’m not on Facebook’ — Katsina senator warns against impostor accounts

Bello Mandiya, senator representing Katsina south, says he does not operate any Facebook account.

Mandiya said this when dissociating himself from a Facebook account purportedly created by him for official communication.

In a statement on Saturday, he said the account in question is being used to disseminate false information and mislead the public to believe his office is conducting employment into an agency of government.

“For the avoidance of doubt and without any equivocation, I want to inform unsuspecting and well-intentioned members of the public that no Facebook account has been created by me, my office or any person acting on my behalf,” the statement read.

“Secondly, the Facebook claim in question lacks any iota of validity as it is impossible that my office, or the office of any senator of the Federal Republic, would be charged with the responsibility of recruiting personnel for a government department or agency.

“It is therefore obvious that the intention of the promoters of this FAKE social media account is to deceive and possibly defraud innocent citizens.

“I am therefore calling on members of the public to discountenance this Facebook account and to disregard all information that it purports to carry in my name.”

The senator said all communications from his office will be done through credible traditional media outlets and his authentic social media accounts which he identified as @BMandiya on Twitter and @senatorbmandiya on Instagram.
