Katsina south senatorial district stakeholders reject ‘jamboree’ congress

Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina south senatorial district have described the ward congresses conducted on Saturday as a jamboree, calling for fresh elections.

In a petition, the aggrieved members cutting across all the 11 local government areas of the zone, accused the committee responsible for the congress of flagrant violation of the constitution and the electoral act.

The petition signed by Usman Buhari said the failure of the  congress committee to appoint three persons per ward, and three persons per LGA to serve in the local organising committee (LOC) as stipulated by the party’s constitution, was a deliberate violation .

They alleged that election materials were handed over to Mustapha Inuwa, secretary to the government of Katsina, describing the act as an attempt to enforce a pre-determined outcome.

Presenting the petition at the Katsina APC headquarters, the aggrieved contestants said the committee failed to commence sitting in the state as stipulated in the party guidelines and that “this failure” would force them to send a copy of their petition to the national leadership of the party while they continue to wait for the committee.
