The Katsina state government says it will disburse N2 billion to persons affected by flood in some parts of the state.
Dikko Radda, governor of the state, said this on Tuesday during the launch of the second phase of the distribution of rice to vulnerable groups.
The rice was donated by the Bank of Industry (BOI), with more than 2,000 bags distributed to the needy during the weekend.
Radda said N2 billion was set aside to help flood victims in rebuilding their homes and businesses.

While commending BOI for the rice donation, Radda called on well meaning Nigerians to support the state with food and other supplies.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to use the donated items for the intended purpose and refrain from selling them.
The rice distribution, overseen by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), targets internally displaced persons, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) across the 34 local governments of the state.

Binta Dangani, SEMA executive secretary, said beneficiaries were carefully selected from the affected areas.
