Kebbi to commence airport operations, trains 500 workers

As part of plans to ensure smooth operations at its newly-constructed airport, the government of Kebbi State has commenced training of 500 persons to be in charge of the facility, which is estimated at N13 billion.

The government said the airport will not only boost tourism in the state, but will also serve as a major source of employment and revenue generation.

While inspecting the facility, Governor of the state, Saidu Dakingari, stated that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is in the final stage of approving the commencement of light aircraft operations, adding that he will be a part of the team that will conduct a test flight to Abuja from Birin Kebbi, the state capital.

Corrobating the governor’s claim, Mr. Joyce Nkemakalem, acting director-general, Aerodrome, NCAA, said clearance for domestic operations will be given later in the month.
