Kehinde Odanye, UI alumnus, selected as goalkeeper at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

Kehinde Odanye, a young Nigerian and graduate of the University of Ibadan (UI), has been selected as a goalkeeper at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a platform that showcases excellent sustainable development initiatives globally.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is committed to fighting inequities in the world, with a mission to create a world where every person can live a healthy and productive life.

Odanye currently serves as the United Kingdom Youth Ambassador of ONE Campaign, an organisation committed to ending poverty and preventable diseases by 2030.

ONE works on promoting sustainable development goals (SDGs) globally. As part of his campaign against hunger in East Africa, Odanye was in the UK Parliament recently and met with David Lammy, Shadow Secretary of State Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, and Bambos Charalambous, Shadow Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, to talk about the severity of the crisis in East Africa and need for more funding by UK government to combat evils of development, poverty and hunger.

Odanye recently received a Spirit of Sussex Gold Award from The University of Sussex for his impactful contributions to extra-curricular activities and the UK community at large. He holds a master’s degree in International Education and Development from the University of Sussex.

Odanye has worked with professionals in Africa and Europe for over eight years on sustainable development.

He will attend the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Summit from September 18 to 22 to make impactful contributions and collaborations on advancing and accelerating sustainable solutions globally.

The goalkeepers’ community is a global collective collaborative and diverse changemakers. Members include both emerging and well-known leaders who live all over the world and represent an eclectic range of cultures, professions and interests. As a community, Goalkeepers are committed to achieving the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
