Protesters in Kenya have looted and burned shops linked to members of the country’s parliament as tension between citizens and the government escalates.
Earlier, protesters forced their way into the assembly complex after breaking the fence, tore up flags, upturned chairs and tables, and stole the ceremonial mace.
Protesters are demonstrating against the passage of a bill that raises taxes. Critics say the bill will make life difficult for millions of Kenyans.
Police fired live rounds at the protesters, leaving two bodies lying motionless outside the parliament building.

A few hours later, a charged crowd donned in black T-shirts and reflectors stormed Club Timba XO in Eldoret, destroying the property and looting alcohol.
The club is said to be linked to Oscar Sudi, an MP and close ally of President William Ruto.
Meanwhile, in Nyeri town, youths overpowered police to break into Chieni Supermarket, which is linked to Njoroge Wainaina, another MP.

An ensuing tussle between protesters and the police resulted in tear gas shots, fumes, and a fire outbreak.
On Sunday, Ruto said he was ready to dialogue with youths who have sustained the protests.
However, security forces have been accused of abducting prominent Kenyans, especially those with huge social media followings.
