John Kerry, United States (US) secretary of state, is planning to visit Nigeria on Sunday.
Kerry disclosed this on Friday while speaking to an audience in Davos.
Marie Harf, state department spokesperson, also confirmed that he would be in Nigeria on Sunday to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Violent extremism has claimed violence at every corner of the globe and Muslim lives most of all,” Kerry said.

“Unless we direct our energies in the right direction, we may very well fuel the very fires we want to put out. There is no room for sectarian division. There is no room for anti-Semitism or Islamophobia.
“In the weeks to come, we have to strengthen our efforts in Somalia, intensify our efforts to end violence in Nigeria; that’s why I’m going there in a couple of days.”
