Keshi quashes Martins’ Eagles wish

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has ruled out any possibility of recalling Seattle Sounders striker, Obafemi Martins to the national team.

Martins, who has been in a rich vein of form for his Major League Soccer side, was hoping to resurrect his Eagles career.

But the Big Boss is not ready to be his genie in a bottle and grant his wishes.

“For Obafemi Martins, it’s good to indicate your interest to play for your country, as a former player of course,” Keshi told Brila FM.

“But we have other players out there in his position, younger players. So we have to give younger players a chance and the opportunity to grow.”

The 29-year-old last played for Nigeria against Kenya in 2013, and with Keshi still in charge of the team, it may well be his last.
