An official of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, who was kidnapped on Friday, around Sagamu, Ogun state, has been released.

Gunmen had opened fire on his vehicle and that of his colleague, who eventually died in the attack.

The incident happened a few kilometers from Ogbere quarry, still in Ogun, where they worked.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the construction firm confirmed the release of its official.

In the last three weeks, there have been three major reports of abductions in some parts of the country outside the northeastern part presently experiencing insurgency.

Only on Wednesday, Osio Agama, sister of Diezani Allison Madueke, Nigeria’s minister of petroleum resources, was released after eight days in captivity.

Similarly, Okey Nwali, the immediate-past president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), regained freedom on October 24, after spending nearly two weeks in kidnappers’ den.
