Kidnappers of Kaduna residents ‘demand N220m ransom’

Bandits have reportedly demanded N220 million as ransom for 11 persons abducted from Anguwan Gimbiya, a suburb of Kaduna state.

TheCable had earlier reported that gunmen attacked the community on Wednesday night, and abducted some persons.

One of the relatives of the victims, who narrated the incident on Thursday, said the abductors contacted the families and requested N20 million for each of the 11 kidnapped persons.

According to the resident, five houses were attacked during the invasion.

In another development, parents of the 121 students kidnapped from Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi, Kaduna state, are said to be preparing to deliver foodstuffs demanded by the abductors.

The students were abducted on Monday.

According to a staff member of the school, the abductors demanded some food items from the parents of the students.

“There is no latest development about the children yet, but there are preparations by parents to deliver some of the food items demanded by the bandits,” the school worker said.

“People have made contributions for the purchase of some of the food items and preparations are going on to deliver them to the bandits.”

Efforts to reach Mohammad Jalige, Kaduna state police spokesperson, to confirm the developments, were not successful as of the time of this report.
