Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, has been named the English Premier League manager of the season after leading the Anfield club to its first EPL title in 30 years.

The German tactician saw off competition from Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers and Chris Wilder, manager of Sheffield United, to take the annual accolade.

The latest award adds to the League Managers’ Association manager of the year gong won by the 53-year-old former Borussia Dortmund coach in July.

Klopp had won the EPL manager of the month prize a record five times last season, breaking the record of four set in 2017/18 season by Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach.

He is also the first German coach to win the EPL manager of the season award following a record-breaking season that saw Liverpool lift the EPL title with 99 points.

The Anfield side also won record-equalling 18 successive matches, 32 league victories and 55 points from a possible 57 points at home.

Klopp’s triumph is Liverpool’s second individual honours from the league’s governing body.
