Koffi Olomide, legendary Congolese musician was on Friday night, arrested for allegedly assaulting a female dancer at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya.
Olomide was arrested Friday night shortly after a live television interview on Citizen TV, in response to the viral video footage of him kicking the woman.
Joseph Boinnet, Kenya’s Inspector General of Police is reported to have ordered the arrest of Olomide.
According to Kenya’s penal code, “any person who unlawfully assaults another is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for one year.”

Olomide was in 2008, accused of kicking and breaking the camera of a cameraman from DR Congo’s private RTGA television station.
The iconic artiste, whose career has spanned decades, was convicted in his home country in 2012, after assaulting Diego Lubaki, his producer.
He was handed a three-month suspended prison sentence as punishment for that incident.

Olomide, who pioneered the Soukous and Rumba sounds, has had his music banned in some countries because of the raunchy and overtly sexual performances of his dancers.
He was expected to perform tonight at the Bomas of Kenya.

UPDATE
Olomide was on Saturday deported back to Congo aboard Kenya Airways flight KQ554 to Kinshasa at 11:30am.

George Wajackoyah, his lawyer said the Kenyan government treated them like “animals” as they deported Olomide and his dancers “without their passports.”
