Kogi approves N4.8bn for Zango road project, building material testing laboratory

The Kogi government has approved the sum of N4.8 billion for a road project and the setup of a building material testing laboratory in the state.

Muhammad Onogwu, chief press secretary to the Kogi governor, disclosed this on Wednesday at a media briefing after the state council meeting.

According to him, the state approved the sum of N4,766,465,199.04 to CCECC Nigeria Limited for the “reconstruction of the zone 8-barracks-Zango-GYB junction dual carriageway”.

Onogwu also said the council approved and awarded the construction of a material/building testing laboratory to Messrs Mathaus General Enterprises at the cost of N59,672,395.38.

He added that the laboratory project was approved by the council to establish a standard facility to boost monitoring of quality delivery of roads and building infrastructure.

Onogwu also said the council approved the construction of internal road networks at the Ajiolo-Ojaji community secondary school in Dekina LGA of the state, as well as the expansion of internal road networks at the College of Health Sciences in Idah LGA.

He also said the council received a report on the ongoing construction of projects at the faculty of medical and health sciences, faculty of engineering, faculty of computing and information technology, university library and senate building at the Confluence University of Science ad Technology, Osara.

Also speaking, Wemi Jones, Kogi commissioner for education, science and technology, said approval was given for the procurement of 600 computers for the GYB model schools.
