Members of the Kogi state house of assembly have removed Momoh Lawal as the speaker of the assembly for incompetence.
According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the deputy speaker was also removed on Thursday for the same reason.
Seventeen members out of 25 voted for the impeachment of the two presiding officers.
The assembly elected Godwin Osiyi from Ogori Magongo constituency as its new speaker.

Kogi state has been in the eye of the storm since the November 21 governorship election, which was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Even after the supplementary election on December 5, there has not been a lull in controversies from the state.
A new government is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 27, 2016.
