The Ayetoro-Gbede community in Ijumu LGA of Kogi state has inaugurated a central planning and coordination committee (CPCC) ahead of its centenary anniversary in 2027.
The inauguration, which held on Sunday, included the unveiling of the centenary grand patrons, and prominent indigenes who have contributed significantly to the community’s development.
Inaugurating the committee on behalf of the Oba-in-council, Samson Bello, the acting Olu, thanked the committee members for their dedication to promoting the welfare of members of the community.
Bello, who described the centenary celebration as historic and symbolic, urged the younger generation to preserve its legacy.

“Even though our forefathers are no longer here, we, the beneficiaries of their vision, must ensure that their sacrifices are honoured. May it be well with our community,” Bello said.
The committee, headed by Funso Owonibi, the commander of the Nigeria Army, has Peter Alabi, representing the Oba-in-Council; Samuel Olorunmaiye, president Ayetoro Gbede Development Association (AGDA); Taiwo Tolorunju, Vicar, St. Peter’s Anglican Church; Tajudeen Ajibola, chief imam of the Central Mosque, as its members.
Other members include Oladele Oyelola, former executive director of First Bank and founder Bright House Academy, Ayetoro Gbede; Eniola Bello, managing director ThisDay Newspapers; Funke Esseyin, a senior banker at UBA; and Joash Amupitan, deputy vice-chancellor, University of Jos, amongst others.
