Kogi guber: Army commander asks troops to maintain neutrality

Valentine Okoro, the general officer commanding (GOC) 2 division of the Nigerian Army, has asked soldiers in Kogi to maintain professionalism in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Okoro spoke on Friday during a visit to the 12 brigade of the Nigerian Army at the Chari Maigumeri barracks, Lokoja, the state capital.

The army commander asked the soldiers to maintain neutrality before, during and after the November 11 election in the state.

“As soldiers, you must exhibit a high level of neutrality, professionalism and discipline before, during and after the upcoming governorship election in the state,” he said.

“In this crucial time of our nation, I expect you to remain gallant, dedicated and disciplined in your areas of responsibilities.”

During the visit, Haruna Dasuki, commander of the 12 brigade, led Okoro around some facilities in the barracks, including the medical reception station and the guest house.

Dasuki appreciated the commander for visiting the troops, noting that it will boost their morale.
