Kogi is committed to improving welfare of teachers, says Yahaya Bello

Yahaya Bello, Kogi governor, says his administration is committed to improving the welfare of teachers in the state.

The governor stated this in commemoration of the World Teachers Day.

In a statement on Monday, Onogwu Mohammed, chief press secretary to the governor, quoted Bello as saying teachers play a critical role in shaping the society.

The governor added that his administration is committed to improving the infrastructure of places of learning across the state.

“Unarguably, teachers are the fathers of all professions! For anyone to be able to read and write, he or she must have been taught by a teacher or many teachers,” he said.

“The teaching profession is what gives birth to other professions and professionals. No one becomes a lawyer, doctor, engineer, nurse, pilot, architect, builder, journalist, pharmacist, etc., without a teacher.

“It therefore means that teachers occupy prominent positions in society and as a government, we remain ever committed to improving the welfare and well-being of this category of workers to enable them give their best.

“Besides our commitment to improving the welfare of teachers, we are also committed to giving facelifts to our educational infrastructures across the state to create a conducive teaching and learning atmosphere for our teeming teachers and students.

“Once again, I congratulate all our teachers for their dedication and commitment to duties.”
