The Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) says five of the 13 prisoners, who escaped from Koton Karfe prison in Kogi state, have been re-arrested.
According to Francis Enobore, spokesman of the service, Ja’afaru Ahmed, prisons’ comptroller-general, revealed this when he made on-the-spot assessment of the prison.
Enobore quoted Ahmed as saying security agencies and local vigilante groups assisted in recapturing the five pre-trial detainees.
He said the comptroller-general had constituted a three-man panel to carry out detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape and forward the report to his office for necessary action.
