Kogi youths divided over Dino Melaye

Hours after members of the Kogi West Youth Leaders Forum (KWYLF) disowned Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi west senatorial district, over his face-off with Oluremi Tinubu of Lagos central senatorial district, a faction of the forum has passed vote of confidence in Melaye.

Addressing a press conference in Lokoja, capital of the state, on Friday, the pro-Melaye group led by Mohammed Abu, described their representative at the senate as a “worthy ambassador”.

“Senator Melaye earned our confidence because he has performed well since assumption of office,” Abu said.

“We decided to throw our weight behind him because he is a worthy son who is performing credibly.”

Abu said the motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Oladele Mathew from Kabba/Bunu local government and was seconded by Dauda Attai from Lokoja local government.

He added that youths numbering 217, across the seven local governments which make up Kogi West, took part in the exercise.

“The joint APC members and youths in the senatorial district wish to tell the entire nation and the whole world that we are stoutly behind the actions and legislation of Senator Dino Melaye, and all his efforts at bringing the desired change that Kogi West voted for last year,” Mohammed said.‎
