Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano state, says the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) would defeat all political parties in a free and fair election.

Kwankwaso spoke on Thursday at the party’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

The NNPP standard-bearer in the 2023 election criticised the Bola Tinubu administration, saying Nigerians are experiencing unprecedented hardship.

“It is very difficult to remember anybody happy with the government of APC at all levels, especially at the national level,” he said.

“Nigerians have witnessed the difficulties that we have never seen in the history of this country.

“Poverty is everywhere. We have seen insecurity, the infrastructure is decaying and we have not seen any efforts to renew them and so on.

“I believe if there is a free and fair election in this country, our party will defeat the APC, PDP and other parties in this country.”

Ajuji Ahmed, national chairman of NNPP, urged members to stay united as the party prepares for the 2027 election.

“I, therefore, call on our leadership at all levels — national, state, local government and ward to please brace up and confront these challenges, particularly, to ignore the recent chariot that claims to establish a parallel leadership in Apapa, Lagos,” he said.

“The questionable paper they have been brandishing like a weapon of mass destruction is nothing other than what it is: A paper. We will soon tear that paper apart.

“Let us stand together as a party, move together as a party, act together as a unified whole, with one destiny.

“That is the destiny to become the ruling party come 2027. It is definitely going to be a tough journey. However, no journey is worthy and is worth undertaking if it is not tough.”

Ahmed said the NNPP is poised to “lift Nigeria out of its current state” and build a nation all would be proud of.
