Kwara APC chairman regains freedom as Kogi monarch is kidnapped

Ishola Fulani-Balogun, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kwara state, and Bode Adekanye, secretary of the party, who were kidnapped in Kogi state on Friday, have been released.

They regained freedom just as gunmen abducted Aminu Aku, traditional ruler of Elete town in Kogi.

Five masked gunmen were said to have picked him up from his residence located on the Lokoja-Ajaokuta highway late Friday.

Aku was reportedly returning from a function at Ajaokuta and was just alighting from his car when he was abducted.

He was subsequently driven away in a vehicle brought by the abductors, who later demanded a N10 million ransom, according to NAN.

Meanwhile Abdulfatah Ahmed, governor of Kwara state, has confirmed the release of the APC chieftains.

“I have just been informed that the Kwara APC chairman and the scribe have been released unharmed by their captors,” he wrote on Twitter.
