The Kwara house of assembly has confirmed the appointment of Sulaiman Kawu as the new chief judge of the state.
Kawu, who was nominated for screening by Abdulfatah Ahmed, governor of the state, was confirmed at Tuesday’s plenary.
The appointment of Kawu followed Friday’s retirement of Ayinla Bamigbola as the chief judge of the state.
In a letter addressed to the assembly, Ahmed said Kawu was recommended by the national judicial council for the appointment.

After 15 minutes of screening, Abdulkareem Abdulganiyu, the majority leader of the house, moved a motion that Kawu should take a bow and leave.
