Kwara demands probe of attack on governor’s convoy

The Kwara state government has called on the police to investigate the attack on the convoy of Abdulfatah Ahmed, the governor of the state, in Kaiama local government area, on Tuesday.

Alleging that suspected thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), masterminded the attack, B.S Abdulsam, the senior special assistant security intelligence to Abdulfatah, condemned the incident.

Muideen Akorede, the senior special assistant to the governor on media, said the governor was on his way to flag off the construction of 64-kilometre road project and also commission a general hospital in Kaiama when the incident occured.

The thugs allegedly vandalized two vehicles belonging to the speaker of the state house of assembly and a car in the convoy of the governor. Some billboards of Abdulfatah were also reportedly destroyed.

Muhammed Madugu Haliru, an aspirant of the Kaiama/Baruten federal constituency under the platform of PDP, Haliru Dansofo, the immediate past special assistant to the governor on chieftaincy affairs and Saidu Yusuf, the representative of Kaiama LGA in the state assembly, were listed as the sponsors of the attack.
