AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, governor of Kwara, has pledged to name the state’s sports complex after Rashidi Yekini, the late Super Eagles player.
The bid to immortalise the Eagles all time goal-scorer, was disclosed to Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development, on Thursday, during a courtesy visit by the governor.
“We will send a bill to the State House of Assembly to immortalise Rashidi Yekini with the name of the stadium changing after the approval,” AbdulRazaq said.

The minister also urged the governor to sustain his support for sports development while noting that it help to reduce social vices.
“I want to thank his excellency for hosting our biggest youth game in Ilorin, your excellency we are coming to Ilorin again because of the facilities in University of Ilorin soonest for the youth game,” Dare said.
“I love the fact His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq loves sport I want to encourage your excellency to invest more on sports.”
Yekini, who hail from Kwara state, represented Nigeria in five major tournaments.

He also earned 58 appearances for the national team, scoring 37 goals — making him the country’s all time highest goal-scorer.
