Kwara lawmaker’s wife, children regain freedom — two nights after abduction

The wife and two children of Soliu Ayanshola, a lawmaker representing Ipaiye/Malete/Olooru of Moro LGA in the Kwara state house of assembly, have regained their freedom. 

Rafiu Ajakaiye, the chief press secretary to the state governor, confirmed the development on Thursday. 

The victims were released around 8 pm on Wednesday after two nights in the kidnappers’ den. 

At about 1 am on Monday, the abductors stormed the lawmaker’s country home in Shao community of the state and whisked the victims away.

Commenting on the incident, Okasanmi Ajayi, spokesperson of the Kwara state police command, said five suspects have been arrested over the incident. 

For now, we have arrested five suspects over the kidnap who are assisting us with the ongoing investigation,” Ajayi said.
