Lagos begins demolition of ‘shanties erected on drainage setback’

Lagos demolishes structures in Gbagada

The Lagos state government has commenced the demolition of “shanties erected on drainage setback” in Gbagada and Bariga.

On Sunday, the state government gave owners of the structures 48 hours to vacate the areas.

The demolition follows the flooding of July 3, which left millions of residents stranded.

In a post on X, Tokunbo Wahab, commissioner of environment and water resources, said the demolition will curb flooding in the state.
