The Lagos state judicial panel of inquiry has awarded N91 million as compensation to 16 victims of police brutality.
Doris Okwuobi, chairperson of the panel, presented the cheques to the victims on Friday.
Five petitioners were awarded N10 million each as compensation for the killing of their family members.
Among those compensated was the family of the late Charles Otoo. The widow of Charles Otoo had earlier appeared before the panel to narrate how her husband was allegedly shot by police officers attached to the Ojodu police division on the evening of October 21, 2020.
