Lagos PDP chairman regains freedom after four days in captivity

Philip Aivoji, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, has regained his freedom after spending four days in the den of the kidnappers.

Last Thursday, Aivoji and some members of his political party were abducted along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while returning from a meeting.

The Lagos PDP chairman had travelled to Ibadan for a meeting convened by Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke, governors of Oyo and Osun states respectively.

Aivoji was released in the early hours of Monday.

Amode did not state whether ransom was paid to secure the release of the Lagos PDP chairman.

On Saturday, the Ogun police command disclosed that a 37-year-old woman, identified as Bilikisu Kazeem, died from a bullet wound sustained during a gun duel between the police and Aivoji’s kidnappers on the expressway.
