The Lagos state government has promised continuous support for persons with hearing loss and other disabilities (PWDs).
Mobolaji Ogunlende, commissioner for youth and social development, spoke during the 40th anniversary celebration of the Lagos State Association of the Deaf.
He commended Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, general manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), for regularly addressing challenges confronting PWDs.
Responding to a concern raised by one of the attendees, the commissioner said: “You said that the government always remember everybody when it is time for an election. You are right and I agree with you.

“But, I am here today. It is not because of election. I will continue to work with the GM, LASODA, to ensure we try our best possible to give you all that you deserve.”
Tokunbo Abiru, senator representing Lagos east senatorial district, who was represented by Ishaya Patience, said: “Since we came on board, we always carry along PWDs in all our programmes, and today, I want to celebrate you and tell you that we know you are here and you are with us.
“I congratulate all the stakeholders that have been pushing through, 40 years is not 40 months. Congratulations to all the board members and all.”
