The Lagos government has re-sealed 12 buildings at the Banana Island area of the state.
Gbolahan Oki, general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), said the affected structures were sealed over failure of developers to obtain planning permits and removal of government seals.
Oki added that some of the structures were not authorised by LASBCA.
In a statement on Friday, the general manager said the sealing of the buildings was part of the activities aimed at sanitising the building sector.

He said two “illegal” fences were also removed in the high-brow estate.
On April 12, a seven-storey building under construction in Banana Island collapsed while workers were at work.
During the rescue operation, a corpse was recovered under the rubble.

A few days later, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos governor, ordered the demolition of illegally built structures in Banana Island.
Sanwo-Olu blamed the collapse of the seven-storey building on the” reckless” operations of some developers who got illegal approval from federal government agencies.
