Lagos reviews curfew hours, schools to remain shut

The Lagos government has reviewed the restriction of movement in the state.

A 24-hour curfew declared on October 20 was eased on Saturday with movement allowed from 8am to 6pm.

However, the hours have been reviewed and movement is now allowed from 6am to 8pm, while schools in the state will remain closed.

Gbenga Omotoso, commissioner for information and strategy, in a statement on Sunday, said the closure of schools will be till further notice.

“The curfew in Lagos state has been reviewed. Restriction time is now 8pm to 6am. Lagosians are enjoined to plan their journey times as they go about their lawful businesses. Public schools remain shut till further notice,” the statement read.

Earlier, Sanwo-Olu in the company of other south-west governors had gone round the state to assess the level of damage done to public assets and private properties amid the violence that occurred during the #EndSARS protest against police brutality.

Although there had been attacks on residents and properties across the country, things took a different turn after unarmed #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos were shot on October 20.

The governor has, however, blamed the shooting on forces beyond his control.
