Lagos SUBEB organises retreat for basic education officials

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has organised a retreat for basic education quality assurance (BEQA) officers.

The retreat sought to enhance their skills and improve service delivery.

The lecture, with the theme ‘Revitalization of BEQA Officers’ Skills for Quality Service Delivery in Lagos State Basic Education Sector’, held from July 12-15 at the Jubilee Chalet in Epe.

The event was chaired by Shittu Hakeem, chairman of Lagos SUBEB; and was hosted by Owolabi Jamiu, a permanent board member.

The retreat harped on the importance of seven key elements — ethics, report writing, monitoring, technology, quality assurance, financial management, and exercise.

The event featured technical sessions, awards, and recreational activities with a special awards segment, recognising and celebrating the achievements of top-performing personnel from the board who have played a crucial role in advancing BEQA’s goals and objectives.

Hakeem commended BEQA officials for their “hard work and dedication”, adding that their commitment to excellence is crucial to the success of the basic education sector.

The sessions were led by facilitators from the Lagos State University and the ministry of basic and secondary education.

Notable sessions included ethics in public service, global perspective in education quality assurance, technology integration, and data analyses.
