The Lagos state government says it will launch its online tax platform on August 15.
The platform is called the ‘Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP)’, said Abdul-Kabir Ogungbo, special adviser to Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, Lagos governor, on taxation and revenue.
Ogungbo announced the initiative at a media briefing on Thursday in Lagos, saying the online tax platform would be launched by Sanwo-Olu.
The special adviser said the platform is designed to streamline, expedite, secure, and make the process of paying taxes by individual residents and corporate entities easier.

He said the portal is also part of the government’s drive to improve the quality of life for Lagos residents.
“This innovation is designed to simplify how Lagos residents and corporate entities perform their civic responsibilities in form of tax payment, making the entire process more efficient, convenient and secure,” he said.
“As earlier established, the e-tax platform for all tax payments managed by the Lagos Internal Revenue Service, is another milestone.

“It represents a significant leap towards modernising our revenue collection system. It will streamline our collection process into a more-friendly and accessible self-service portal.”
The special adviser pointed out that the LRP would aggregate all bills and payments across ministries, departments, and agencies in Lagos state — making it a one-stop shop for all taxpayers.
Ogungbo said the portal would allow residents to handle and print their bills from anywhere and make payments online through multiple available channels (card, bank transfer, point of sale (POS).
He said some of the advantages of the portal include instant revenue receipt after payment, amendment and reversal request of payment, and a thorough view of payment history.

The government official added that the initiative would improve residents’ overall experience by offering prompt assistance and encouraging ease of conducting business in the state.
