The Lagos government says it will ramp up closures of more bars, churches, nightclubs, mosques and companies constituting environmental nuisance in the state.
Tokunbo Wahab, commissioner for environment and water resources, disclosed this on Tuesday during a management meeting with Babatunde Ajayi, general manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), and directors of the agency.
Wahab urged the management team of LASEPA to review its strategies in line with international best practices.
“I charged them to review their operational strategies following accepted international best practices,” he said.

“I have also directed the zonal directors, monitoring and enforcement units to begin advocacy and strict enforcement by closing any public place (bars, churches, clubs, mosques, companies, among others) causing environmental nuisance across the state.
“This is in compliance with the Lagos state environmental management protection law.”
In recent times, the state government has been sealing off a slew of nightclubs, bars and worship centres over noise pollution.
