The Kebbi police command says suspected Lakurawa terrorists have killed 16 people in an attack on Tungan Taura and Tungan Ladan villages in Augie LGA of the state.

Nafiu Abubakar, the police spokesperson in Kebbi, said in a statement released on Monday that the attack occurred on April 6 around 6 pm.

“The attackers arrived in large numbers, rustled an unspecified number of cattle, and engaged in a deadly confrontation with community members, which led to the tragic loss of sixteen lives,” the statement reads.

Abubakar said Bello Sani, the commissioner of police in Kebbi, has ordered the deployment of additional tactical teams comprising the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilantes to the affected areas.
