Kaduna state says the process of obtaining land titles has been simplified, allowing investors, developers, and residents to acquire documents within 24 hours.
Bashir Garba, director-general (DG) of Kaduna Geographic Information Services (KADGIS), spoke in a statement on Saturday.
Garba said the simplified process aligns with the commitment of Uba Sani, Kaduna governor, to enhance the ease of doing business in the state.
“Governor Uba Sani is one of the few governors in Nigeria that have achieved this success,” the KADGIS DG said.

“He is committed to creating a conducive business environment that encourages investment and economic growth in Kaduna state, provides jobs and improves internally generated revenue (IGR).”
Speaking on the procedures for obtaining documents, Garba said applicants opting for the expedited process, which attracts a higher fee, must first accept the grant of the right of occupancy, complete the perfection of deeds (in cases of assignment), and pay all required fees.
“The draft certificate undergoes thorough quality check to ensure that all errors, which were commonly found on C of Os prior to May 29th, 2023, are eliminated before it is printed and forwarded to the Governor for execution,” Garba added.

“The governor will then promptly execute and return the document to KADGIS within 24 hours for scanning, registration and recording at the deed registry.”
The director-general said the document will be sent to the conveyance unit of customer service, which will then notify the owner for collection.
He urged customers who applied for certificates of occupancy but did not receive them within the stipulated 24 hours to promptly reach out to KADGIS for clarification and assistance.
According to Garba, prolonged delays in issuing C of Os are often due to incomplete information or related queries.

“In most cases, KADGIS staff must have contacted this category of customers by phone without success,” he said.
The KADGIS boss advised landowners to obtain and secure their C of Os, stating that the documents will grant them legal validity and official recognition as rightful property owners under government authority.
