The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has procured 500 traditional management solution (TMS) devices for its personnel.

Bolaji Oreagba, general manager of LASTMA, spoke of the deployment of the devices, on Friday, during the closing ceremony of the personnel’s training.

Oreagba said the TMS device is one of the notable technological innovations of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration in the transport sector.

The general manager said the TMS body cameras will provide “accurate validation” of testimonies of motorists and transport officers on traffic issues.

“The TMS body cameras will provide accurate validation of any tale tendered by both the traffic law officials and motorists,” Oreagba said.

“Also, pictorial and video evidence will help in the course of investigating complaints lodged by aggrieved motorists.”

In March 2021, Sanwo-Olu, Lagos governor, announced the plan for law enforcement officers in the state to use body cameras.

The governor said the training on the use of the device will be conducted by the state’s Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI).

“I am pleased to inaugurate the use of body-worn cameras by law enforcement officers in Lagos and this is a groundbreaking move to enhance safety in the state, as well as increase transparency and accountability in the activities of our law enforcement agencies,” the governor had said.
