Lateef Kabir, an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has received a cash gift of N100,000 for his exceptional approach to easing traffic congestion.
Taofiq Adebayo, LASTMA spokesperson, announced the reward in a statement on Thursday.
The statement said the reward was given to Kabir by Adekunle Ajayi, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Ajayi Adekunle & Co.
Adebayo said a Nigerian on social media spotted the officer when he was channelling flood with bare hands after a downpour on Sunday at the Odo Iya-Alaro bridge inward Ojota area of Lagos.

He said Kabir went out of his way to ensure the free flow of traffic which attracted commendations from members of the public and was rewarded for his effort.
Saheed Bamidele, who spoke on behalf of Ajayi, said he was moved when he saw the footage of Kabir’s selfless act, urging other traffic wardens to emulate him.
“I was personally touched when I saw a LASTMA officer on social media using his bare hands to dislodge floodwater into drainages on Odo Iya-Alaro bridge just to ease traffic congestions on the bridge inward Ojota under the heavy rain on Sunday,” he said.
